Dogspeak Policies
Expectations
The timeline for completing any training plan depends on several variables. Consistency of implementation, patience for our dogs as they learn, and a degree of flexibility in what we ask of our dogs are all key.
The most influential variable, of course, is each dog as individual, thinking, feeling creatures. Your dog's life experiences and personality will by necessity inform the success of any desired change you wish to see. For this reason, I cannot in good conscience tell you what the exact outcome of our work will look like or guarantee any result. But in order to give you the best chance of seeing improvement in the issues you want to address, I recommend that clients be ready to commit to working with their dog for at least 5 minutes each day. If you’re beginning a training plan with me, I also ask that you be ready to commit to meeting together weekly or biweekly. This will give you and your dog the best chance of making steady progress and making the most of our time together.
If over the course of our work together we find that our relationship isn't building toward that improvement, I'm happy to recommend other trainers in the area. Furthermore, if I feel that the issue you're confronting is beyond my experience and ability to properly guide you through, I will communicate that to you promptly and help you find a trainer who is better suited to your needs.
Private Training
Initial consult: $200
Follow up lessons (1 hour): $100/single, $285/3pk, $465/5pk, $900/10pk
Zoom check-ins (30 min) : $50 (only available with training pack)
The fee for private training is payable by cash, check made out to Dogspeak or Venmo (@dogspeakvt) at the time of the lesson. If a lesson package is purchased, payment is due at its first session.
A package is good for 4 months after its first session. However, it is best not to let more than two weeks pass between lessons in order to keep up your training momentum.
Payment
Travel Fees
A travel fee of $15/session will be added to the service rate if your home is located more than 35 minutes from Ferrisburgh VT. A travel fee of $25/session will be added if your home is more than an hour from Ferrisburgh.
Cancellations
There is no cancellation fee for a private lesson that is promptly rescheduled or cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. If a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours in advance, there is a $50 fee.
