Guiding you through life with dog and baby

Despite all my experience with dogs, when I was pregnant with my first baby in 2019 the thing I was most nervous about was managing my own two dogs around a newborn - and I know I wasn’t alone in this concern. More than any time in history, our dogs are often our first "babies" and we just want everyone to get along! I decided to become a licensed Family Paws Educator so I could better help other families reduce their stress around this aspect of welcoming a new baby.

My goal is to give you the tools to create a lifelong safe, positive relationship between your dog and child.

I’ve partnered with GROW Prenatal & Family Center to offer Family Paws workshops for dog-owning expecting families and families with babies/young toddlers. I also offer private, one-on-one sessions to address individual concerns and guide you in designing plans for your unique family in your own home.

Visit the GROW website for more information and registration for my Dogs & Storks workshop for expecting families.

If you’re expecting a baby, I can help you:

  • Put strategies in place to reduce stress for you AND your dog in the first days/weeks/months following your baby’s arrival

  • Teach your dog skills to make that “homecoming phase” of your family’s new life as smooth as possible

  • Develop tools to trouble-shoot as your baby grows and their relationship with your dog changes

  • Have confidence that your baby and your dog are safe sharing your home

  • Enjoy life with dog and baby, no matter the situation

If you’re already a parent to a baby/young toddler, I can help you:

  • Reduce any existing tension between your dog and baby

  • Tackle the ever-changing relationship between your dog and baby as your child grows

  • Identify potential trouble spots before they arise

  • Have confidence that your baby and your dog are safe sharing your home

  • Enjoy life with dog and baby, no matter the situation

No matter what stage your family is in, get started with these resources:

“Working with Lucy helped us to feel confident and prepared for bringing home our baby with 2 dogs in the household. With Lucy's help we planned and practiced with our dogs for situations that did arise when we brought the baby into the home. It made the transition for the dogs and us much easier. I'm so grateful for this training and continue to use Lucy's strategies to this day to create a safe and happy environment for our baby and dogs!”
